Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 August 2026
GoalieIQ analyzes hockey clips you choose and turns them into coaching feedback and training plans. This policy describes what the app actually does with your information — not what a generic app might do.
The short version
- No accounts, no sign-up, no password.
- Your profile, reports and ratings live on your device, not on our servers.
- Video never leaves your phone as video. Still frames are pulled out on-device, sent for analysis, and not stored afterwards.
- We don't sell your data and we don't track you across other companies' apps or sites.
What stays on your device
This is stored locally and is gone when you delete the app or tap Settings → Clear all data:
- Your goalie profile — name, age, height, weight, level, play style, catch hand, unit preference.
- Analysis reports, skill ratings and training history.
- An optional YouTube Data API key, if you add one. It's held in the iOS keychain and is only ever sent to Google's YouTube API.
- A randomly generated ID for your local profile. It isn't derived from your name, your device, or any Apple identifier.
What leaves your device
| What | Goes to | Why | Kept? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Still frames from the clip you picked, the non-identifying parts of your profile (age, level, catch hand, play style), and any notes you type about the play | Our analysis server, which calls Anthropic's Claude API | To produce the analysis you asked for | No. Frames, notes and the response are discarded once the result reaches your phone. |
| An anonymous session token and a salted, irreversible hash of your network address | Our analysis server | Rate limiting, so one user can't exhaust the service | Counters only. We never store your raw IP address. |
| Subscription status and the profile attributes above | Superwall, our paywall provider | To show the right paywall and check whether your subscription is active | Per Superwall's retention policy |
| Approximate coordinates | OpenStreetMap / Overpass | Only when you open the Rinks tab, to find rinks near you | Not stored by us |
| Search terms from the video library | YouTube Data API — only if you added your own key | To search training videos | Not stored by us |
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details — Superwall reports back only whether a subscription is active. To cancel, go to Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Location
Location is requested only when you open the Rinks tab, and only while the app is in use. There is no background tracking. Decline it and every other part of GoalieIQ keeps working.
Photos and videos
GoalieIQ asks for read access to your photo library so you can pick a clip. It never writes to, deletes from, or scans your library — only the single clip you select is opened, and only when you select it.
Tracking
GoalieIQ does not use the Advertising Identifier, show ads, or share data with data brokers or ad networks. It does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Children
GoalieIQ is built for hockey goalies, including minors, and asks for age so training recommendations scale safely. There is no account, and no social or messaging feature. It does not knowingly collect personal information beyond the on-device profile described above. Parents and guardians: because that profile only ever exists on the device, deleting the app or tapping Clear all data removes it completely.
Your choices
- Delete everything — Settings → Clear all data wipes your profile, reports, ratings and stored keys from the device.
- Revoke permissions — iOS Settings → GoalieIQ lets you withdraw photo or location access at any time.
- Questions or requests — email goalieiq@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top is updated and the new version is published here before the change takes effect in the app.
